Elopement Weddings

August 18, 2020

What is an elopement wedding? An elopement wedding these days does not mean a quick dash to Gretna Green? However, in a beautiful valley in Devon on the River Walkham, hidden amongst the trees there’s a venue that has taken the elopement wedding and elevated it.

In these strange days, where Government are taking the decisions about if and/or when we can meet up with family and friends, it is a relief to know that, local to me, this garden venue are keeping their fingers close on the pulse of complicated if not sometimes confusing regulations.

They offer a number of ways to say ‘I do’ in stunning surroundings. They also use the best of local suppliers to enhance the day, photography, food and flowers, (that’s where I come in). All the difficult bits are presented in a no fuss, stress free format. This allows couples to concentrate on getting married to the love of their life in a beautiful spot, with fabulous photography, delicious food and flowers made with care. The venue? Ever After at Lower Grenofen, Tavistock.

I love creating the iconic wedding bouquet. I know it will be in family photographs for ever and it matters to me that I deliver something that brings real joy. These wonderful pictures are by the very talented Clare Buckingham and you can see loads more to whet the appetite on her site.

When creating a bouquet; initially I ask for colours, what the couple are wearing and what style of bouquet they would like. For example wild, elegant, neat, rustic, garden, themed i.e. 1920’s, even Harry Potter, formal/informal etc. the list goes on… Then I set about sourcing the flowers, bringing together all the different elements to enhance the required look. When the flowers arrive with me, they are first conditioned and left to drink overnight. Then they are arranged in the style requested, packed carefully in tissue paper and delivered. I invest a lot of my own emotions in creating a wedding bouquet, and sometimes I have to laugh at myself when I hand a Bride her bouquet, as I often feel a tug of loss in relinquishing it.

So, if you are looking to tie the knot, with immediate family or friends, in the perfect setting? then look no further, chose an elopement wedding at Lower Grenofen. We are all here waiting for you.
